Impasto is a first-person, atmospheric, adventure game that invites you to step inside the imagination of Spanish master painter, Francisco Goya. In a painted world, inspired by the figures in Goya's paintings, the player must learn to overcome the cruelties of the world.
The project is currently still in development.
my responsibilities
art lead & art director
As the art lead of Impasto, I am responsible for managing a team of 8 dedicated artists. My team and I want to capture the personality of Goya's work and translate it to an interactable 3D environment.

early visualizations

Impasto was originally meant to be set on a dark night at an art museum during the Spanish Civil War.
I have worked on the game since its inception. The original concept of the game was oriented in more colorful, saturated colors.

other work

In preparation for our work on the project, the artists on Impasto did extensive studies on the work of Francisco Goya, analyzing his brushwork, his shapes, colors, and lighting to the best of our ability.

The skyboxes for each of the game's environments are altered versions of Goya's paintings of the sky. (Images on the left are my alterations to the original paintings on the right.)
